Therapy won’t give you a painless life, but it can help you to feel empowered and resourced in the face of all that life brings your way. You can learn to be resilient, to be your own best friend, and to face the inevitable challenges of life knowing that you can handle them powerfully.
Hi! I’m Maggie Hollinbeck, a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Supervisor with extensive training and experience treating trauma from a holistic perspective. I earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, Child Studies specialization from Antioch University (Los Angeles campus) in 2002 and have worked in a number of unique settings, ranging from private practice in Northern California to civilian counseling on military installations as far away as South Korea and Germany. I spent my first three years of practice serving children and teens in foster care, both individually and in family therapy when preparing for reunification with their parents. I’ve also spent time working with traumatic brain injury survivors and their families, and adults struggling with co-occurring disorders. I’m also pursuing my professional acting and musician career in New York. I have had the pleasure of applying my therapeutic background to helping other artists develop a healthy mindset to manage the rigors of a career in the arts.
I’ve trained in a number of therapeutic modalities such as Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Brainspotting, Advanced Integrative Therapy (AIT), Depth Psychology, Narrative Therapy, and Transpersonal Psychology. I am a Reiki master and have extensive training in treating trauma through the body’s energy system. Additionally, I have extensive experience in Gottman Couples Therapy, which is the only evidence-based couples therapy currently available, and I am a certified Gottman Couples Therapy Workshop leader.
Although I find great fulfillment in working with a wide variety of clients and issues, I particularly enjoy helping women dealing with life transitions or a family member with mental illness, transition-age young adults (roughly ages 18-25), and any client who is invested in going beyond the hard work of healing old wounds to tend to their growth, transformation, and self-actualization.
Please call (619) 330-9500 or email [email protected] to get scheduled with me or another therapist at GTSD!
