Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
While suffering is an undeniable part of the human experience, no one is meant to walk the path of healing alone. It is my life’s greatest honor to help clients find clarity, renewed optimism, and a sense of inner peace during our work together. Even though the process of therapy certainly can be challenging at times, I want each of my clients to know I am walking alongside them and encouraging their desired change.
Hello there! I’m Whitney Molitor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I was drawn to the field of therapy after my own eye-opening and powerful experience as a teen in the client seat many years ago. Earning my Undergraduate degree in Psychology from the frigid temperatures of Minnesota’s University of St. Thomas, I packed up my bags to head West and obtained my Masters in Marital & Family Therapy from the University of San Diego.
For the last twelve years, I have been fortunate to practice in a wide range of clinical settings including Hospice & Palliative Care, inpatient, partial, and outpatient psychiatric units at hospitals, an Eating Disorder Treatment Center, and spent the last six years serving as South Bay’s Eating Disorder Specialist at Kaiser Permanente. I am a Certified EMDR Provider, have extensive experience in treating eating disorders, body image concerns, women’s issues, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, perinatal mental health, as well as chronic mental health diagnoses such as Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder. I have worked with many different age groups across the lifespan, LGBTQIA clients, and after working near the border for many years, I wholeheartedly understand it is my duty as a provider to work from a multi-cultural approach. Additionally, I am a Certified Yoga Instructor and taught yoga for over ten years, always integrating a holistic and somatic perspective in my work. I completed a year-long extensive training in Bioenergetics, which focuses on utilizing the mind-body connection in healing relational trauma. In addition, I am privileged to have had training in Gottman Couples Therapy, which is the only evidence-based couples therapy currently available.
More important than any credentials behind my name, however, is the warmth and humanness I bring with me into the therapy room. Finding the “right fit” with a therapist is the foundation and safe container to which transformation can begin. I consider my greatest strength as a therapist is my ability to see a client’s potential and inherent worth, despite what dysfunctional patterns or behaviors may be getting in the way. I applaud your courage in taking the first step in creating a more meaningful and fulfilling life!
Please call (619) 330-9500 or email intake@goodtherapysandiego.com to get scheduled with me or another therapist at GTSD!

"I have worked with a few different therapists over the last decade. Feeling a solid connection and understanding from a therapist has been my biggest challenge. Whitney has made me a believer in therapy and more importantly in myself and my ability to improve. It’s evident that Whitney has a passion for her career and takes pride in her work and her patients. Since our first session she has listened and adapted her approach to help guide my improvement. In sessions, I feel comfortable and completely trusting in Whitney. She’s a stud."

"I have been working with Whitney for a few months now and she has been the best therapist I have had the pleasure of working with to date. The things I have struggled with and continue to struggle with she comes back to constantly and makes sure I know what the plan is and the direction we are headed. She listens to what I say. She provides necessary feedback and grants me with assignments that benefit me daily. My insurance isn't covered under this location but she has been worth the cost for my well-being and what I need. I look forward to every session with her because I always leave with more hope than the week before."

"My experience with Whitney so far has been really great and I could not recommend her more highly. She is great at balancing warmth and empathy with practical advice and goals in our sessions. I also appreciate how flexible she is in our sessions to assess where I’m at and potentially adjust her plans based on what’s best for that week. Working with Whitney has been the most positive experience I’ve ever had with therapy and I think she is really exceptional."

"I have been seeing Whitney Molitor just shy of a year so far and cannot imagine finding a better match. She is knowledgeable, articulate, and incredibly approachable. I know she truly cares about me and makes me feel like she is invested in my health. This year has been full of varied challenges for me; a death, moving, and a birth. She has helped me through it all so beautifully. I sincerely recommend her."
