about Morgan
Associate Marriage & Family Therapist
A lot of what brings people to therapy comes down to balance: between work and rest, between showing up for others and showing up for yourself, between the person you’ve been and the person you’re becoming. I don’t think you find that balance once and keep it forever. It’s something we build together, a little at a time, and I’d be glad to help you find it.
I’m Morgan Dye, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. I’m originally from Thousand Oaks, California, and earned my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Denver, where I studied psychology and studio art with a minor in marketing. I went on to complete my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Capella University.
Before starting graduate school, I worked as a behavioral therapist and program coordinator at an autism day program, supporting clients and their families through individualized behavioral interventions. During my clinical internship, I worked with individuals, couples, families, and groups navigating dual diagnosis, which gave me a firsthand look at dependency and the ripple effects it has on relationships. I also work with children through Child-Centered Play Therapy, giving them the agency and empowerment to lead our sessions, while I model and reinforce boundaries, emotional expression, and regulation skills.
If any of this feels familiar, we could be a great fit:
- Feeling persistently low, unmotivated, or disconnected from things you used to enjoy
- Anxiety or worry that feels hard to switch off
- A complicated relationship with dependency on unhelpful coping skills
- Relationship challenges such as intimacy, vulnerability, and trust, for couples of any orientation
- Navigating adolescence or the transition into adulthood
- Children navigating big emotions, behavioral challenges, or life transitions like a move, divorce, or the addition of a new sibling
- Self-esteem or identity struggles
- Struggles with food, body image, or how you see yourself physically
My approach is collaborative and tailored to who you are, not a one-size-fits-all protocol. I draw from Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help clients build on their own strengths and move toward concrete change. I also bring in Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed work, somatic interventions, and a systemic framework. However we work together, my goal is the same: to help you feel more grounded, more connected, and more in balance with yourself.
Outside of the therapy room, I recently moved to San Diego and I’m having fun exploring the city, especially through trying new restaurants and cafes. At home, I’m usually cooking something new, doing yoga, or doing something artsy like ceramics, photography, or sewing projects, always with my two cats supervising close by. I’m looking forward to connecting and being a part of your story.
about Summer
Operations Manager
“Nothing ever really goes away until it has taught us what we need to know” ~ Pema Chödrön
Welcome, my name is Summer and I am an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor at GTSD. My clinical experience includes working with adults suffering from co-occurring mental health diagnoses in an intensive outpatient (IOP) level of care, as well as supporting at-risk adolescents in an after school program. It was in these roles I came to understand how various forms of trauma become integrated in our bodies and minds, and show up differently for each person throughout our lives.
I have worked with anxiety, depression, trauma (PTSD, abuse & neglect), shame & guilt, codependency, and anger. I have also worked with body-image stressors, 12-step programs, sexuality and gender-identity issues, career exploration, couples & family dynamics, children of divorce & dysfunctional households, and military veterans.
My therapeutic approach is based in openness, trust, curiosity, and cultural awareness. My goal is to help you break through the barriers that may be hindering your growth, and allow you to reconnect with yourself in the way that only you can truly discover. I believe that the connection between our psychological world and our physiological world is a key component of long lasting wellness. At a fundamental level, our brains are designed to protect us and every new experience we encounter imprints somewhere in our memory and in our body. Thus, the ways in which we respond to and cope with various stressors today are rooted in our learned experience from the past. It is when we build awareness, acceptance and compassion towards every part of ourselves that true healing (and change) begins.
In our work together, I may utilize concepts from Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Psychodynamic Theory, Jungian Shadow Work, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Inner Child Work, Somatic Approaches, Mindfulness & Meditation, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Internal Family Systems (IFS), or skills from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I am also privileged to have had training in Gottman Couples Therapy, which is the only evidence-based couples therapy currently available.
In addition, I am the Operations Manager for GTSD. I work directly with the Client Relations Manager, Clinical Director, and Operational Director to oversee a fantastic team of dedicated intake coordinators and clinicians. From your initial intake call to your very last session, our purpose is to provide you with genuine care, support and guidance while you navigate the complexities of your healing journey.
As a North County native, there is nothing more rewarding than serving my local community. In my free time, you can find me walking the strand in Oceanside, paddle-boarding in the Carlsbad Lagoon, or hiking out in Elfin Forest. Whether it’s your first time trying therapy or you have been seeking support for many years, I am curious to hear your story, learn from your resilience, and witness you tap into your most authentic self. Come as you are and we will walk this path together.
Please call (619) 330-9500 or email intake@goodtherapysandiego.com to get scheduled with me or another therapist at GTSD!
