There are certain events in our lives that are undisputedly life changing: marriage, divorce, a move, a job change, birth of a child, the loss of a loved one. Yet for most of us, transformation does not happen overnight, or a single blinding flash of awareness, but rather in small, daily increments over time. It is something we choose, not something that happens to us. Perhaps the most transformative choice we can make is to prioritize self care. The practice of self care nurtures every aspect of who we are from our physical health and spiritual well being to our mental health.

In my journey as a therapist, the more I talk to people the more it's clear that below the surface of our very different appearances, lifestyles, and interests lie the universal desire to stay well and find some kind of inner peace. We all want to be rested and restored and reconnect with life. We want to learn how to live a balanced life and be less susceptible to stress and sickness and to have health and peace of mind.

My name is Shaghayegh (Sheri) Ameri.  I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I studied psychology at San Diego State University and received my Masters in Marriage Family Therapy from National University. I have several years of experience working with children, teens, adults, couples and families in a variety of treatment settings addressing and treating depression, Anxiety, Panic Disorders, PTSD, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, ADHD, Personality Disorders.  I also enjoy working with relational issues amongst couples and families as I am trained in Gottman Couples therapy. My experience working with children in foster system, offered me a better understanding of how to help children cope with past trauma and teach parents/caretakers about the effect of trauma on children. I find it very rewarding to witness many individuals I worked with learn and practice to live a more healthy, balanced and mindful life. I have always believed in creating an authentic environment in which we work collaboratively together to achieve a well balanced life. I congratulate you for taking this step to show up for you life and welcome you to begin this journey with me!

I look forward to working with you.

"I've been seeing Sheri since the beginning of January and she has already made a profound difference in my life. She has helped immensely with my relationship and my own mental health. She's very supportive and is always available if I need something. She is very easy to open up to and has offered me and my bf great insight into our relationship."
