Dear Future Client,
“It is a gift to be yourself” ~ David G. Benner, PhD
I believe that it is a gift and a privilege to be yourself. Isn’t it incredible that no two human beings are the same? Each person, you, are truly unique, one-of-a-kind. This foundational belief drives my passion to learn about your special life story, and build a therapeutic relationship with a purpose to help.
My desire to help started and deepened in my previous career in Christian ministry. I have traveled domestically and internationally to help people of different life stages, socioeconomic statuses, races, sexual orientations, and spiritual beliefs. My passion flamed in helping people navigate the intricate complexities of their emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being & relationships. This passion led me to pursue studying and completing licensure for both Mental Health Counseling (LPCC) & Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT). With my studies and experiences I can help:
Couples: Learning and changing communication styles, building compatibility in personality/lifestyle differences, addressing unspoken trauma/affair, rebuilding trust and commitment, managing chaos in the midst of work & raising children, adjusting to a new stage (becoming new parents, empty nesters), reigniting faded romance, pre-marital counseling, and more.
Families: Navigating family dynamics with young and/or adult-children, addressing conflicts related to foster, adoptive, single-parent, blended, and interracial families, and more.
Children & Teens: I provide services for children 8-years-old and up to address issues related to social skills, emotion regulation, attention-deficit, hyperactivity, anxiety, depression, trauma, defiance, aggression, and self-harm behaviors. I provide individual, family, and parent consultation sessions as needed, integrating talk, play, art, cognitive behavioral therapy, emotion focused family therapy, structural family therapy and attachment-based therapy. The younger the child, the closer I like to work with caregivers to best cultivate the environment the child needs to apply the insight and skills learned in the therapy office.
Individuals: Increasing awareness and creating change related to experiencing suicidality, aggression, psychosis, personality-disorder traits, acculturation, grief, trauma, obsessive-compulsive tendencies, substance-use, low self-esteem, and more. I understand that some thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are difficult to share, even with the people that are dearest to you. As your therapist, I will create a safe environment for you to freely explore, and provide therapeutic treatment to achieve your goals.
Theories & Therapy Modalities: I am experienced, trained, and skilled in several evidence-based theories, including but not limited to: Existential Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy & Emotion Focused Family Therapy, and Prepare & Enrich. I am also a certified Level 2 Gottman Couples Therapist, the only evidence based couples therapy available. Further, I provide Christian counseling upon request.
Perhaps you’re in a prolonged dreadful season and cannot recognize the goodness in your life. Perhaps you’re haunted by the avoided trauma in your past. Perhaps you’re looking for a solution to your repetitive conflicts. Perhaps you’re having a difficult time accepting your current reality. Perhaps you’re overwhelmed by the pressure to make a life-changing decision.
Whatever you are facing, I am ready to meet you. I am here to serve you. Thank you for considering me to be your therapist!
