Dear Future Client,
“It is a gift to be yourself” - David G. Benner, PhD
I believe that it is a gift and a privilege to live as oneself. No two human beings are the same and everyone is truly one-of-a-kind. Prior to becoming a therapist, as a pastor and missionary, I have traveled domestically and internationally to help people of different life stages, socioeconomic statuses, races, sexual orientations, and spiritual beliefs. It is my passion to learn about the uniqueness of each person and build a relationship with a purpose to help. As I recognized the recurring theme of issues related to mental health and relationships, I changed my profession to marriage family therapy and mental health counseling to better help the people that I serve today.
Theories: I am experienced, trained, and skilled in several evidence-based theories, including but not limited to: Existential Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Prepare & Enrich, and Gottman Couples Therapy. I provide Christian Counseling upon request.
Family/Couples Therapy: I am most thrilled when I am helping clients strengthen their relationships. I can help couples, siblings, and caregivers and their children, recognizing that not all children are raised by their biological parents. I have experience working with various family dynamics including foster, adoptive, single-parent, blended, and interracial families.
Individual Therapy: With my clinical experiences in an inpatient hospital and in-home settings, I have helped both adults and minors live through some of the most traumatic and painful seasons of their lives. I have helped clients through suicidality, aggression, grief, psychosis, personality disorders, abuse, divorce, acculturation, and more. I understand that some thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are difficult to share, even with the people that are dearest to you. As your therapist, I will create a safe environment for you to freely be you, and provide therapeutic treatment to achieve your goals.
Perhaps you’re in a prolonged dreadful season and cannot recognize the goodness in your life. Perhaps you need the courage to face the avoided trauma in your past. Perhaps you’re looking for a solution to your repeating conflicts with someone special. Perhaps you’re having a difficult time accepting your current reality. Perhaps you're faced with making a difficult life-changing decision.
Whatever you are facing, I am ready to meet you. I am here to serve you. Thank you for considering me to be your therapist!
Education:
B.A. International Studies - Sociology, University of California, San Diego
M.A. Marriage Family Therapy & Mental Health Counseling, Bethel University
Please call (619) 330-9500 or email intake@goodtherapysandiego.com to get scheduled with me or another therapist at GTSD!
