“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves” ~ Viktor E. Frankl
Thank you for making your way here. Whether you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, having relationship challenges, or just don’t feel like yourself, I’m here to help. Although change is difficult, uncomfortable, and scary, it is sometimes necessary for personal growth. I wholeheartedly believe in our capacity to change our unhealthy thought patterns in order to live the life we desire. Seeking therapy is a self-honoring choice, and I’m happy to be alongside you in this challenging, yet fulfilling journey.
My name is Deema Kanbaragha, I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Earlham college, and a Masters of Art in Clinical Counseling from Point Loma Nazarene University. I have experience providing therapy to adults, families, and children. I’m also passionate about working with couples. I have helped clients with a variety of concerns that include: Depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar, psychosis, trauma, ADHD, child sexual abuse, addiction, grief, anger, separation, family and relationship challenges. I customize therapy according to personal needs and utilize the following treatments; Psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Informed Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). In addition, I am privileged to have had training in Gottman Couples Therapy, which is the only evidence-based couples therapy currently available.
Throughout my life, I have had the opportunity to live in different places around the world and have surrounded myself with individuals of various cultures and religions. My life experience combined with my professional training has provided me with a multicultural perspective that enables me to honor and be culturally sensitive to my clients’ needs and unique backgrounds. I believe one of the most important tools for healing is the therapeutic relationship. I strive to create a safe and accepting space that allows my client to feel fully supported. I approach my clients with empathy, use active listening, compassion, humor, and, when necessary, gentle confrontation. I encourage my clients to make empowering choices that build their internal sense of freedom, strengthen their self-trust, and bring them deeper clarity.
