Catie Peters, LCSW #119308

Are you looking for some relief from painful emotions? Are you having a hard time taking actionable steps towards a goal? Are you sick of having the same fight over and over again with a loved one? These are just a few of the types of challenges I can help you with. Maybe you’re not sure what you want out of therapy, but you know you’d like some support at this time in your life—that’s okay too. Oftentimes, our pain can feel so isolating that we forget our challenges and fallibility are part of the larger human experience. Also part of common humanity, is being deserving of loving kindness—both from ourselves and others. I am ready to roll up my sleeves and jump into the trenches of life with you, or to be a soft place to land when you’re flooded with pain.
My name is Catherine Peters, but you can call me Catie. I am a Board Certified Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Loyola Marymount University and a Masters in Social Work with a concentration on adult mental health and wellness from University of Southern California. I have formal training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, Problem Solving Therapy, and Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA). In addition, I am privileged to have had training in Gottman Couples Therapy, which is the only evidence-based couples therapy currently available.
With extensive learning and practice in the behavioral and mental health field, I am equipped to use my toolbox to customize an approach that best fits your unique needs and goals. I have worked with children, teens, adults and families. In my experiences, I have come to appreciate the links between what we feel, think, and do (or don’t do). I embrace each person I work alongside with warmth and understanding of where they are right now, while also being a guidepost along the way to any potential changes they may want to make (and I’ve got some great evidence-based tricks up my sleeve to help you get there). No matter what you come to me for, I aim to equip you with tools that will continue to increase your sense of wellness when you leave the therapy office.

"Catie Peters has been a valuable and inspirational therapist for me as I've been navigating a marital breakup after 28 years. She is intelligent, intuitive, caring and accepting, and takes the time to really HEAR me. She goes out of her way to schedule appointments when I need them, and regularly updates me if there is a cancellation. She suggests meaningful strategies to help me cope and move forward. She is a rare gem!"
