Adam Bonventre, AMFT #138251

Choosing to prioritize yourself and get the help you deserve takes a lot of strength and courage. I believe that it is in that place of strength and courage that we can begin our journey of caring for our whole well-being.
My name is Adam Bonventre and I am a Board Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. I went to Marquette University for my Bachelor’s and received my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Palo Alto University. My extensive studies in and around the field of mental health has been a catalyst to my lifelong journey of learning.
My approach to therapy is based on a therapeutic relationship between me and you that’s built on trust and empathy. My goal for you in therapy is to meet your goals and what you want to work on. I’ll be your biggest advocate and will support you along your journey of healing and will do so through providing a warm therapeutic environment and a variety of therapeutic techniques.
In the past, I have worked with people from adolescents to older adults living with depression and other mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, grief, adjustment difficulties, as well as personal, family, or relationship concerns. I have also helped couples navigate through life changes, relationship distress, and miscommunication issues. I view healing from a holistic perspective - mental, physical, social, emotional, and environmental - and I consider each of these a vital part to help uncover potential roadblocks to healing.
I utilize a number of different treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. I am also currently undergoing further training in the Gottman Method for Couples, an evidence-based treatment aimed to create lasting change for couples and their relationship. When working with couples, I lean on the Gottman Method as a roadmap for treatment. In addition to these modalities, I simultaneously teach coping skills to help clients confront their symptoms head on while we work on addressing your goals in therapy.
From personal experience, I know how difficult it can be to find the right therapist and taking that first step can sometimes be the hardest. Being here is a great first step! If I sound like someone you are looking for a therapist, reach out to continue your journey of inner healing. I would love to get to be with you along that journey. I can’t wait to meet you soon.
Please call (619) 330-9500 or email intake@goodtherapysandiego.com to get scheduled with me or another therapist at GTSD!
